While the first Dr. Martens 2976 Chelsea boot was produced in the early '70s, the original style has Victorian origins. Farmers loved the sure fit and easy-on, easy-off elastic ankle gusset – kick ass style was just an unexpected side effect.
These days, the 2976 Chelsea boot is a slick, uncompromisingly fashion-forward look for both sexes. Part of our Lost Archives collection, this boot is made with the classic Dr. Martens Smooth leather, a lightly textured, highly durable leather with a soft sheen. The 2976 serves up all the signature Doc's DNA, like our iconic yellow stitch, air-cushioned soles and scripted heel-loops.
Composition: Durable and famously stiff to start, our Smooth Leather can be polished to a dapper shine or artfully scuffed-up depending on your preference.
Construction: This is a Goodyear-welted product. The upper and sole are heat-sealed and sewn together, not merely glued like many footwear constructions.
Care: Smooth = Clean Away dirt using a damp cloth, allow to dry apply correct coloured wax based shoe polish to restore shine as desired.

We offer same day dispatch if ordered prior to 2pm, the exception is weekends and public holidays, when we will dispatch on the next weekday.
Free shipping excludes international and oversize purchases.
We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.

Returns
Here at Thomas’s Department Store, we understand that you may wish to return an item or purchase from time to time.
You have 5 business days, from original date of purchase, to complete an in-store exchange or return. Online exchanges or returns must be returned to us for processing within 10 days, from original date of purchase.
Full price items are eligible for an exchange or store credit.
Sale, Swimwear, Underwear, Earrings, Sunglasses, Skincare, Personal care items, Consumable goods and Custom orders will not be returned or exchanged.
