Spring is in the Air: Our Favourite Spring Accessories
Spring is in the Air: Our Favourite Spring Accessories
We're past the depths of winter and heading into a brand-new season. For us, that means reorganising our closets and browsing our favourite spring pieces at the department store!
Curious about the new spring trends cropping up this year? Like the seasons, fashion tends to come full circle. This spring, we can see that styles from the late 90s and early 2000s are making a strong comeback! (cropped baby tees, short skirts, and a bunch of neon). As spring comes into full bloom, we're bound to see a few new trends popping up as well.
Explore some fashion trends we expect to blossom in women's clothing online and in NZ this springtime.
Patterns and Print
People are trading in muted, tan shades for bold patterns and prints this season. As more celebrities and fashion labels embrace prints and patterns, we see more eclectic styles in everyday wear. Whether through a matching set or detailed prints combined with bold patterns, there are many opportunities to play around.
Think Fran Fine in the Nanny; a formfitting pencil skirt, blouse, and mini blazer, all in a matching print. On the other hand, you can break up your outfit by pairing printed pieces with muted pieces or simple patterns, like stripes.
A Little Bit Extra Doesn’t Hurt
Coco Chanel famously encouraged fans to remove one item before leaving the house, but that way of thinking is going out of style. As seen in the late 90s and early 2000s, more is more.
Think bright, colourful, and reflective. Fashion is expressive, over-the-top, and ever-changing; why not have fun? Try stacking rings over some satin gloves, for example. Spring is a chance to enjoy the brighter things in life, and why not extend that to our wardrobes?
Layer Up
Although springtime brings warmth, it can still get brisk outside. You're certainly used to layering up from winter; keep those layers around for the coming season—they're still in style.
Tight tees under slip dresses and loose jeans under loose skirts, for example, have become less of an outdated fashion and more of a trending statement. Throw a sleeveless trench on top to tie everything together. However you build your layers, you're certain to achieve a unique and fashionable look.
Oversized Everything
Whether by keeping up with the latest runways or following your favourite celebrities on social media, you're bound to have noticed that bigger is vogue.
Maybe the rough few years we've had is causing more people to embrace fashion and indulge in over-the-top style. But a running theme in these spring trends is that more is more, and jewellery and accessories are just the beginning.
When it comes to jewellery, think bulky, oversized, and stacked. You can find big rings, curated earrings, and chains on bodies everywhere. Oversized accessories are everywhere in department stores as well. For example, large sunglasses—like those adorned by Kim Kardashian—and oversized handbags (fashionable AND convenient) are incredibly popular.
All Shoes Platform
Spring is about growth; we're reaching new heights with platform shoes this season. More women are discovering the powerful feeling gained from a platformed shoe. Nowadays, you can find almost any style of shoe with a platform: boots, sneakers, flip-flops, even Crocs!
From adding half a centimetre to a few inches, wearing a platform shoe makes you feel confident, powerful, and as if you're stomping down the runway wherever you go.
